Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m an editor and digital newsroom leader specializing in restaurant coverage, service journalism, and audience-centered editorial strategy. Since 2019, I’ve led Community coverage at Boston.com, overseeing the issues that matter most to readers from food and lifestyle to news and politics for a broad Greater Boston audience. I manage a cross-functional team of editors, writers, producers, and freelancers, shaping coverage that balances authority, accessibility, and reader trust.

At Boston Globe Media, I work closely with editorial, events, marketing, and social teams to grow reach, deepen engagement, and support Community-focused initiatives while maintaining clear editorial standards and independence.

Previously, I was digital editor of The Improper Bostonian, a longtime Boston lifestyle magazine covering food, arts, and culture. There, I edited and published restaurant and lifestyle coverage, managed web and newsletter strategy, and grew digital audiences across platforms. My writing has ranged from restaurant and travel features to profiles and long-form reporting.

Before journalism, I spent nearly a decade working in social enterprise and impact-focused programming — experience that continues to inform my approach to community-driven storytelling.

You can find samples of my writing, editing, newsletters, and digital work here.
