Hi, I’m Emily.
I’m an editor and digital newsroom leader specializing in service journalism and audience-centered editorial strategy. Since 2019, I’ve led Community coverage at Boston.com, overseeing the issues that matter most to readers from food and lifestyle to news and politics for a Greater Boston audience. I manage a cross-functional team of editors, writers, producers, and freelancers, shaping coverage that balances authority, accessibility, and reader trust.
At Boston Globe Media, I work closely with editorial, events, marketing, and social to grow reach, deepen engagement, and experiment with new ways to connect with audiences—all while maintaining clear editorial standards and independence.
Previously, I was digital editor of The Improper Bostonian, a longtime Boston lifestyle magazine covering dining, arts, and culture. I edited and published restaurant and lifestyle coverage, managed web and newsletter strategy, and grew digital audiences across platforms. My writing has ranged from business and travel features to profiles and long-form reporting.
Before journalism, I spent nearly a decade working in social enterprise and impact investing. That experience continues to shape how I approach complex subjects: with curiosity, rigor, and an eye toward making ideas accessible and meaningful to the people they affect.
