Hi, I’m Emily.
I’m an editor specializing in editorial strategy, audience development, social media, and digital content management. Since 2019, I’ve built and led the editorial and audience engagement strategy for Community, Boston.com’s hub for interactive, hyper-local storytelling. I manage a cross-functional team of editors, writers, producers, and freelancers to create reader-driven digital content across polls, newsletters, quizzes, forms, and video. At Boston Globe Media, I work across editorial, marketing, sales, events, and social teams to grow digital reach, boost audience retention, and develop innovative engagement approaches that deepen community connections and create value for readers and advertisers across the Greater Boston region.
For two years until its closure, I was the digital editor for The Improper Bostonian, a lifestyle magazine with a 28-year history covering food, arts, culture, and the latest events across the city. I managed The Improper’s web content, newsletters, and social channels. I also wrote about Boston’s only salt cave yoga, eating my way through Singapore, George Foreman III’s vision for success, and what it takes to become an astronaut.
Prior to my work in journalism, I spent the better part of a decade working in another passion: social enterprise and impact investing.
Check out some of my writing, social media, newsletters, and websites over here.
