Survivors of Homicide

In late 2015, I spent time with Mary Franklin to better understand homicide in Boston and what life is like for the people who are left to mourn their loss. Known as 'survivors', Franklin shared with me her advocacy work around unsolved homicides and how a community of mostly women and children are impacted.

Inspiration

I found that the camera was a comforting companion. It opened up new worlds, and gave me access to people’s most intimate moments. I discovered the privilege of seeing life in all its complexity, the thrill of learning something new every day. When I was behind a camera, it was the only place in the world I wanted to be.
