I'm a Mess: Observations from the Road
I've been pretty silent despite embarking on new adventures and desperately feeling the need to document it all. In six months, I've traversed islands across the Caribbean all thanks to a new job. No one wants to hear this, but I'm going to say it. I'm exhausted. There are days when I'm so immersed in work that I could be anywhere. I want nothing more than to share and explore the thoughts and ideas that come to life on dirt roads in beautiful locales, and even in the sweaty discomfort in backs of buses. Instead I have more often found myself in bed at night, having startled myself awake just to see that my laptop was open with a half-written work email and cracker crumbs everywhere. I'm a mess. Adjustment to a new job takes six months - some say a full year. I've just passed six months so no more excuses I guess. For more than one reason, I'm between trips allowing me to lift my head up and actually look around. Before I take off for Africa, here are some beautiful moments so far.
